Here’s what you can do with soiled, torn currency notes to get new ones or a refund

The Reserve Bank of India has established guidelines for exchanging damaged currency notes, including soiled and mutilated ones. Soiled notes, which are dirty or slightly torn, can be exchanged at any bank branch. Mutilated notes, with missing parts but identifiable security features, can be exchanged at designated branches, with refunds based on the extent of damage.
